We have been buying and selling livestock in East Texas for more than 37 years. That means we are not a one-breed operation working from a waiting list. What Kind of Pigs Are You Looking For?
Most people who call us are buying for one of four reasons. Knowing which one you fall into helps us point you at the right animals quickly.
Feeder Pigs
A feeder pig is a young pig that has been weaned off the sow and is ready to be grown out to market weight. This is what most families buy when they want to raise their own pork. It is the most common way pigs leave our farm.

Weaned Pigs and Piglets
Weaned pigs are younger and lighter than feeder pigs. They cost less up front but need more attention in the first few weeks, and they need a warmer, tighter pen. If you have raised pigs before and you want to grow one out from the smallest size, this is where you start.

Market Hogs and Big Sows
We regularly have larger hogs and big sows available. Buyers for these are usually filling a freezer, feeding a crowd, or buying for a whole-hog cook. Weights vary widely depending on what came in that week, so call for what is currently on the farm.
Breeder Gilts and Boars
A gilt is a young female that has not yet had a litter. A boar is an intact male. If you are starting or expanding your own breeding operation, these are the animals you want, and they are worth a phone call rather than a website order, because breeding stock should be selected in person.
Hog Breeds We Carry
We deal in domestic hog breeds. The breeds we see most often on our farm are:
- Berkshire — black with white points, known for meat quality and marbling. Popular with people raising a hog specifically to eat.
- Hampshire — black with a white belt around the shoulders and front legs. Lean, heavily muscled, and a common show breed.
- Duroc — red, heavy muscled, and one of the fastest growing breeds. A frequent choice for market hogs.
- Yorkshire — white with erect ears. Large frames, good mothers, and the backbone of a lot of commercial crossbreeding.
- Crossbred pigs — a large share of what we sell. Crosses often grow well and cost less than registered stock, and for anyone raising a pig for the freezer they are usually the practical choice.
Availability by breed changes constantly. If a specific breed matters to you, tell us when you call and we will let you know whether we have it.
We Do Not Buy or Sell Wild Hogs
This comes up often enough in Texas that it is worth stating plainly. Emola Farm does not buy or sell wild hogs, feral hogs, or trapped hogs. Every pig we sell is a domestic animal.
If you are looking to have wild hogs removed from your property, we are not the right call. If you are looking for a healthy domestic pig to raise, feed out, breed, or eat, that is exactly what we do.
Where We Are and Who We Sell To
Our farm is at 759 VZ CR 2704, Mabank, Texas 75147, near Cedar Creek Lake in Van Zandt County. That puts us within a reasonable drive of most of North Texas and East Texas.
We are within an easy drive of Mabank, Gun Barrel City, Athens, Canton, Kaufman, Terrell, Tyler, Corsicana, Forney, Rockwall, and the wider Dallas and Fort Worth area. Van Zandt, Henderson, and Kaufman counties are our home ground.
How to Buy Pigs from Emola Farm
- Call us at 903-880-0124. Tell us what you are trying to do — raise one out, fill a freezer, start a breeding herd — and roughly what size you want.
- We will tell you what is here. Inventory changes daily and weekly. We can send you a photo of what we have.
- Come look. We would rather you see the animal before you buy it, particularly for breeding stock.
- Bring a trailer or a crate. Have a plan for hauling before you arrive, and have your pen ready at home.

Before You Bring a Pig Home
Pigs are easy to keep and hard to contain. Most of the problems new owners run into come down to three things, and all three are fixable before the animal arrives.
- Fencing. Pigs root, lift, and push. Hog panels or well-anchored woven wire hold up far better than field fence alone. A pig that gets out once will look for the same weak spot again.
- Shade and water. Pigs do not sweat. In a Texas summer they need shade and a way to cool off, and they will drink more water than you expect.
- Feed. Decide what you are feeding before you buy. Changing a young pig’s feed abruptly is a common cause of a setback in the first week.
